Business Development Manager / Manufacturers Sales Representative

FireDos is a German manufacturer and world leader in the development and production of innovative proportioning systems and extinguishing monitors for firefighting.

We deliver stationary and mobile fire protection technology as well as solutions for fire trucks and mobile usage. Our products are critical to protect property, equipment and lives in refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants, power plants, and other industrial processing and logistic facilities throughout the world. In addition to our headquarters in Wölfersheim/Germany, the service department in Mücke/Germany, and the production facilities in Falkenau/Germany and Olesno/Poland, we also have the subsidiary FireDos US Inc. in Houston/Texas. The six partner companies in the USA contribute to a worldwide sales network with sales partners and distributors in a total of 46 countries.

FireDos US has been in the US for almost 5 years and is looking forward to further growth. We are looking for you to strengthen our sales team in Houston, TX.

Job Summary

As the Business Development Manager North America at FireDos US Inc. you are promoting FireDos products as the system of choice with decision makers at end users, engineering companies, system manufacturers and contractors in the firefighting industry.  In addition, a close working relationship shall be established and maintained with relevant organizations, institutions and influencers that can create a pull for the use of FireDos products in general and foam proportioning systems and firefighting monitors specifically. 

Your primary responsibility will be to identify and develop new business opportunities, and to establish, cultivate and nurture relationships with key clients and prospects within the target industries of our products.  

As the Business Development Manager North America, you will work together, and share leads with the existing network of Authorized Distributors, to ultimately increase the sales volume in the region. 

Your tasks will also include the expansion of the existing network of Authorized FireDos Distributors and its potential as well as the assistance in developing and implementing a marketing and sales strategy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as representative for FireDos US Inc., promoting and selling our full portfolio of products and services.
  • Identify and develop business opportunities in existing and new market segments as well as with all participants of the fire protection industry. 
  • Identify relevant and competent contacts within the fire protection industry (end users, engineering companies, EPC, system manufacturers, contractors, organizations, associations institutions) and establish and maintain good working relationships. 
  • Utilize a combination of self-generated leads and company-provided leads to identify and explore new business opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by prospecting for new clients through various channels such as cold calling, networking events, and industry conferences.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in trade shows to showcase our products and engage with potential clients.
  • Lead meetings, appointments, and educational sessions such as "lunch and learns" to cultivate and expand business with leads and/or customers.
  • Develop and deliver formal and informal sales presentations and proposals tailored to the specific needs and interests of clients.
  • Effectively manage and maintain the sales pipeline, consistently updating data in the Company's CRM system.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company's products and services, as well as their applications within the target industries. Effectively communicate product features, benefits, and value propositions to clients.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to clients regarding product installation, application knowledge, and addressing any concerns or inquiries.
  • Collaborate with internal transnational teams, including marketing, product development, and customer service, to ensure alignment of sales strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and new developments in the field of business development. Continuously seek opportunities for business growth and development.
  • Exploring new opportunities to expand the Authorized Distributor network and customer base with the goal of a comprehensive market coverage in target industries.
  • Position the FireDos brand as a standard within relevant company guidelines and specifications of end users, contractors and EPC wherever foam as extinguishing media is mandated. 
  • Position FireDos as a state-of-the-art technology company in the network of relevant firefighting companies, shows, organizations and institutions as a market and technology leader. 
  • Assist in developing and implementing sales, marketing and budget strategies to increase sales and market share in the North American fire protection market

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Engineering degree (preferably in process engineering, mechanical engineering or system engineering with knowledge of fluid mechanics).

Work Experience

  • Preferred minimum of five (5) years of experience in B2B value add sales as an Outside Sales Representative.
  • Preferred sales experience in an environment of technical investment products in the fire protection industry.

  • Skilled in translating technically complex information into clear and accessible formats, facilitating understanding among diverse audiences.
  • Strong teamwork abilities, able to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for crafting compelling narratives and delivering engaging presentations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in conflict resolution and problem-solving, with a proven track record of effectively navigating challenging situations.
  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of fire protection requirements and terminology, enabling seamless communication and collaboration within the industry.
  • Proficient in understanding the specific needs and intricacies of end users, engineering companies, system manufacturers and contractors in the industry, allowing for targeted and effective solutions.
  • Readiness to work in an international work environment.
  • Ability and readiness to travel on a frequent basis (up to 50%) which may involve commuting long distances for client meetings, trade shows, and other business-related events.
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally travel abroad (Canada, Mexico).
  • Ability and willingness to travel to the FireDos headquarter in Germany for training and reporting purposes.
  • Skilled in utilizing Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint.
